Training
Introduction
Effective child protection depends not only on procedures
but also on the skills, knowledge and judgement of all staff involved
with children and/or their families, plus their ability to work together
co-operatively. To this end the GSCB has developed a Training Strategy
for all agencies and recommends that any staff involved, including
practitioners, supervisors and managers, attend at least a basic
awareness course in child protection, provided either by the GSCB or
their agency. Staff with lead roles in child protection, or who have a
statutory responsibility, once they have completed basic training, will
require more specialised training in order to carry out their work.
