Aims
This
course aims to provide a wide range of staff with an introduction to all
aspects of child protection in order to enhance knowledge and awareness
of the issues and the ability to respond appropriately to them.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this programme, participants
will be able to:

Demonstrate a basic
knowledge of the key indicators of child abuse in line with current
research
·
Describe how their
own responses to child abuse may affect thresholds for intervention
·
Identify how
anti-discriminatory issues impact on child protection
·
Demonstrate an
increased understanding of their own and other agencies’ roles and of
the need to work together
·
Demonstrate an
understanding of how to respond to child protection concerns.
Target Audience:
This course is open to all staff who regularly
come into contact, through their work, with children and young people
Approach:
The course is a combination of facilitator input,
interactive discussion, case studies and exercises.
