Joint Targeted Area Inspection (JTAI)
Joint Targeted Area Inspections (JTAI) investigate the multi-agency arrangements and response to all forms of child abuse and exploitation. The inspection process will review the council, health, police, probation and youth offending services. The inspection team is made up of representatives from Ofsted, HMI Constabulary, the Care Quality Commission, and HMI Probation.

Each inspection will have a particular 'deep dive' element whereby an aspect of care for a specific group of children is inspected in detail. Between August 2016 and March 2017 the focus is on children living with domestic abuse.
The visit is announced at short notice nine days before the inspectors come on site for four days.
The inspections will investigate:
The response to all forms of child abuse, neglect and exploitation at the point of identification
The quality and impact of assessment, planning and decision making in response to notifications and referrals
The protection of children and young people at risk of a specific type of harm, or support for children in care /or care leavers
The leadership and management of this work
The effectiveness of the Gloucestershire Safeguarding Board in relation to this work
