Child Protection Inter-Agency Training - Full day course

The range of training programmes available in Gloucestershire reflects the different learning needs of professionals relevant to their varying levels of contact with children, and of responsibility for and involvement in child protection work.

Target Audience:

This course is open to all staff who regularly come into contact, through their work, with children and young people

Aims

This course aims to provide a wide range of staff with an introduction to all aspects of child protection in order to enhance knowledge and awareness of the issues and the ability to respond appropriately to them.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this programme, participants will be able to:

• Demonstrate a basic knowledge of the key indicators of child abuse in line with current research
• Describe how their own responses to child abuse may affect thresholds for intervention
• Identify how anti-discriminatory issues impact on child protection
• Demonstrate an increased understanding of their own and other agencies' roles and of the need to work together
• Demonstrate an understanding of how to respond to child protection concerns.

Approach:

The course is a combination of facilitator input, interactive discussion, case studies and exercises.
