Organisation
Gloucestershire
County Council is responsible for leading the Change
for Children programme locally and bringing together key
organisations and partners involved in providing services for children.
It
is making this happen through the Children and Young Peoples
Strategic Partnership (CYPSP), a
multi-agency partnership of key local organisations that provide
services for children.
This
programme is being implemented through a number of projects - the
establishing of the Gloucestershire Safeguarding Children Board is one
of them. Although the GSCB is not a project under the programme,
it is very closely linked in order to achieve the five outcomes of Every
Child Matters.

The
GSCB has a Multi Agency Executive
Board
which consists of one representative at senior
management level from these agencies:

The
GSCB is currently considering the format for Safeguarding Forums to
engage many other agencies whose work involves children and their
families.
In
order to meet their defined responsibilities and respond to the growing
demand and complexity of its work, the GSCB delegates many of its
projects to a number of specific "sub-committees" for:
The
Safeguarding Children Service
(formally known a the Child Protection Unit) is a body independent of the other agencies that make up the ACPC. The
primary responsibilities of this Service are to convene and chair Child
Protection Conferences, offer advice about child protection and
child protection procedures and maintain the Child Protection
Register. Agencies ring the Safeguarding Children Service (01452
42 5144) to Log Child Welfare Concerns before making a referral with the
Children and Families Help Desk (01452 42 6565). Duncan Siret, the
Safeguarding Children Manager, is responsible for the Safeguarding
Children Service which combines the GSCB Training and Administrative
functions. |
