Education Sub-committee

To ensure that all children and young people aged between 0 and 19 within any educational or training setting remain safe.

Objectives

  • To ensure that all education and training providers for children and young people aged 0-18 and the education related services that support children outside of these settings have suitable policies and procedures in place to safeguard a child�s well being.�

  • To ensure good communication and awareness amongst education professionals of Gloucestershire�s corporate policies and practices as well as the practices and procedures maintained and managed by the GSCB on Child Protection and Children in Need.

  • To take forward practices set out by the GSCB at local level and ensure that they are being implemented in all educational settings.

  • To publicise National policies and cross agency child protection issues to promote awareness for all education professionals

  • To work cooperatively with other agencies to establish and carry forward good practice and to identify areas of commonality to ensure the effective use of resources where possible.

  • To oversee the regular audit and monitoring of the training needs of staff on Child Protection issues, to deliver training and to keep records of training undertaken.

  • To act as a conduit to service providers and the GSCB by undertaking work requested by GSCB members pertaining to educational issues and reporting back progress made, any barriers to progress and issues arising.

  • To ensure the development of consultation procedures with education providers, children, young people and families.�

  • To implement our duty under section 175 of the Education Act 2002 -� �Duties of LEAs and Governing Bodies in relation to welfare of children� by ensuring arrangements are in place to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
