Target Audience:
This course is available to all staff who are currently working with children, young people and their families.
Aims:
To provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Honour Based violence (HBV) and Forced Marriage (FM) to safeguard children, young people and adults at risk
Learning Outcomes:
On completion of this training course the participants will;
- have the confidence to identify victims that are at risk and the assurance to respond to their needs
- have an understanding of the impact that culture and religion have in Honour Based Violence (HBV), Forced Marriage and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)
- have an understanding of the importance of collaborative working in order to safeguard children and adults at risk and how to respond effectively.
- be culturally competent when working within minority communities
- have the relevant knowledge of local and National procedures, legislation and resources; in order to safeguard and support victims
- understand how to undertake multi agency working and how to confidently challenge other agencies and make use of the 'Escalation Policy'.
Approach:
The course is a combination of facilitator input, interactive discussion, case studies and exercises.
