 Parental Mental Ill Health

Mental health problems affect around 1 in 4 people every year to a greater or lesser extent and many of these individuals are parents. This new GSCB course aims to support professionals working with parents with mental ill Health, in order to understand some of the problems facing these families and to highlight the difficulties for children living in these environments.

By the end of the course participants will have;

  • Gained an understanding of parental mental ill health and the impact on children, parents and families
  • Increased understanding about roles and responsibilities of other agencies who support the families where someone experiences mental illness
  • Understood how to work jointly with other agencies in order to improve the outcomes for children, parents and families.
  • Increased awareness of current local and national Agenda's and Serious Case Reviews relating to these issues
