Safeguarding Privately Fostered
Children
'The Hidden Fostering'
Half - Day multi agency course
The
extent of private fostering is unknown. What is known is that private
fostering covers a diverse range of situations, and that notification rates
fall far short of the real figures. The Children Act 2004 specifically
addresses the needs of this potentially vulnerable group of children,
placing additional duties both on local authorities and partner agencies.
This
half-day course aims to raise awareness about the law regarding private
fostering, to clarify agencies responsibilities, highlight good practice,
and share information about the extent and make up of private fostering
arrangements in Gloucestershire.
This
course is open to all staff who regularly come into contact with children
and young people through their work, (such as education, health, probation,
police, social care, and voluntary agencies).
